Best Practices for Vehicle Camping in Squamish
Please remember that public parking lots are not campgrounds. Respect the space and your neighbours. Let’s do our part to keep Squamish clean for the community and vehicle residents. You have the right to feel safe, secure, and supported as do others who use this public space. Please abide by these best practices to help keep this area secure for all:
Stay self-contained and be discrete
Keep belongings, including yourself, inside the vehicle. Awning, tents, tarps, cooking stoves, and barbecues outside of the vehicle are forbidden unless at a designated camping site
Leave parking area when you wake up
All campers must be capable of moving at any given moment
No detaching of trailers or truck campers
Leave no trace
Dispose of garbage, compost, and recycling in the appropriate containers
Respect the environment. Do not urinate, defecate, or litter outside
Grey water must be deposited at a proper dumping site (Canadian Tire)
Keep pets on a leash, dispose of their waste properly
Respect people
Do not consume alcohol or drugs in public areas
Do not obstruct the movement, exit, or access of other vehicles
Treat those around you with mutual respect. Zero tolerance towards physical violence and non-physical bullying/aggression
Respect your neighbors by keeping noise and lights down. Avoid using generators, or social gatherings. Observe a quiet time of 10pm to 8am
No idling of vehicles. Idling for more than 2 minutes is illegal in BC
